Continuing the Memory...
How it all began: Although there had been talk about an expansion of a veteran's memorial for several years, there had never been a concerted effort to address the desire and formulate a planning committee.
In June 2007 the Rice County Central Veterans were approached regarding an expansion. Outgoing President Lloyd Grandprey and incoming President Bob Ackman both endorsed the concept and a committee was formed. Original members of the committee were Richard Cook, Lloyd Grandprey, Bob Ackman, Amy Lindsay, Wally Duchene, Steve Ernste, Paul Johnson, Jim Douda, Don Kelly, Bob Johnson, Pete Flannery, Scott Eitel, Chuck Carr, Chuck Stam, Ron Schwartz and Chuck Oliver. Sadly Bob Ackman, a founding member of the memorial expansion, passed away September 16, 2008. In 2009 Kirk Mansfield and Jim Miller joined the committee bringing in new blood and added technological expertise.
